When I joined Kappa Alpha Theta as a freshman, I never intended for it to be a major part of my life. Rather, I expected it to be a simple extracurricular. However, Theta landed me amongst the greatest people I have ever met, my best friends. While I never expected to be much of a sorority girl, I knew I needed to give back to the association that gave me my bridesmaids! I felt that the best way to do that was to help others have the same experience, so I applied to be the Vice President of Membership, or the head of recruitment. I was elected for the position, and was fortunate enough to be able to shadow my predecessor during my junior year to learn a bit more about what goes into the job. Then, I was thrown into taking charge senior year. Leading workshops and teaching the entire chapter from the front of the room took a bit of time to adjust to. It's definitely difficult to be telling your friends what to do, and to be managing over 100 twenty year old girls. After weeks of workshops that I put together and presented and countless practice rounds, it was time to recruit! From the timing and logistics of every round all the way to the decorations, music and outfits, I had spent many sleepless nights pulling this together. While I have never been so stressed, it was so worth it once I saw our new member class, and especially now that I am watching them become best friends just as me and my roommates did three years ago! All of the meetings and days losing my voice from lecturing everyone taught me an unbelievable amount about leadership, adaptability, people management, budgeting,

and working under pressure. I gained so much confidence through this experience, and having everyone supporting me was a huge help. I would not change this experience for the world!
